Files embedded inside the PDF, either at the document level (the paperclip panel in Acrobat) or attached to a specific page as a file attachment annotation. Images drawn on the page, fonts, and form data are not attachments; for pictures use Extract Images.

It means cpdf found no embedded files at either the document or page level. Pictures on the page, hyperlinks to external files, and form field data can look like attachments in a viewer but aren't stored as embedded files, so there is nothing to extract.

Each file keeps the name it was embedded with. Attachments tied to a specific page get the PDF's name and page number added as a prefix, and if two attachments share a name the second gets a _1 suffix so nothing is overwritten inside the ZIP.

Upload as many PDFs as you like and click Extract Attachments once. Everything found across all of them is placed in one extracted-attachments.zip, and the status message reports the total count and combined size.

Anything that was embedded: spreadsheets, XML data files, images, ZIP archives, other PDFs, and so on. The tool copies the bytes out exactly as they were stored and doesn't convert or open them.

Encrypted PDFs prompt for their password when loaded, and extraction then runs on the decrypted copy held in memory. Without the correct password the embedded files can't be read.

This tool extracts everything in one pass. To inspect, remove, or replace individual attachments inside the PDF use Edit Attachments, and to embed new ones use Add Attachments.

No. The PDFs are parsed by a WebAssembly build of cpdf in a background worker in your browser, the ZIP is assembled locally, and the download comes straight from your device. Attachments often contain source data, so this keeps them off any server.
